Nota Bene: New Feature Introduction

Nota Bene means note well in Latin and I'm fairly sure that in my student notes on lectures there was always a huge amount of NB notes that would have marked the important phrases or passages which in turn would pop up on a quiz or exam later.

I had this thought to introduce this feature for new and old releases of ebooks I'm interested in to bring your attention to them too. We'll see how it goes, but if you're interested in it please let me know and of course you are welcome to share it.

Tracey Sinclair so far released a full novel and two shorts. It's fun, quirky and oh so very British take on vampire cliches from both human and vampire perspectives.
I would say if you want to make fun of Twilight, True Blood, Anita Blake and Supernatural, Cassandra Bick, an owner of the vampire dating agency in London will do it for you.

For years, Kari Hunter's fooled the world into thinking she's just an everyday girl. Sure, she's the lead singer of world-renowned band Vis Viva, but outside of that, she recycles religiously, is an avid supporter of the environment, and a certifiable coffee addict. But Kari has a secret she keeps from her family, friends, and her fans.

Kari Hunter is a necromancer.

The rarest and most powerful of all magic-born, necromancers are notorious for leaving a trail of sacrifices in their wake. But Kari isn't interested in hurting anyone. She works hard at being as un-necromancer-like as possible: everyone she stabs gets a bandage and a lollipop, and whenever her sacrificial knives get too excited at the prospect of violence, she puts them in time-out... in her lingerie drawer.

But when an agent of voodoo master Ruairi O'Bryne catches Kari using her powers, her secret's out. And if Ruairi finds out who Kari is, he'll stop at nothing to make her his next sacrifice.

I literally just saw this mentioned on Fantasy Book Critic blog and knew I wanted to read it. Sounds really funny!

The Great War of 2185 is over, but my nightmare has just begun. I am being held captive in the Queen’s ship awaiting interrogation. My only possible ally is the princess, but I’m unsure if she is really my friend or a trap set by the Queen to fool me into sharing the secret of my gift. A gift I keep hidden even from myself. It swirls inside my body begging for release, but it is the one thing the Queen can never discover. Will I have the strength to keep the secret? I’ll know the answer soon. If the stories are true about the interrogators, I’ll either be dead or a traitor to my people by morning.

This is a short novella which got a fabulous review from Kara @ Great Imaginations. For a self-pub it has a great cover plus a really interesting synopsis. Want.

A fresh and exciting debut novel introducing the Chronicles of the Applecross.

Lora Blackgoat, smuggler and mercenary, has been lying low after a job gone bad made her a laughing stock in the industry. When a childhood friend turns to her for help, Lora leaps to restore her reputation and starts hunting a killer who is stalking the gas-lit streets.

She never expects that her path will lead her to the Order of Guides, a sadistic militant religious organisation - or to Roman, a deadly and dangerously attractive half-angel warrior who also hunts the killer.

When Lora discovers that the killer has broken fundamental laws of magic to enter the city, she also uncovers a conspiracy that leads back into her own dark past.

Sounds absolutely mavelous, plus this is a killer of a cover, don't you agree?

This is it for today. Anything you like?

Great idea! I'll surely check this feature out every time you'll post it :D Weighted sounds very fascinating, but Chaos Born made my eyes sparkle - the cover is SO Underworld saga like *_* Have a nice day!
PS: I'm quite sure "Nota Bene" is Italian ;)

Thanks for the mention, and I love the idea behind the feature!

Hi, Alice! You are right. It's the same in Italian, but Italian is originated from Latin that's why they are spelled the same. However, in academic language nota bene is considered a latin phrase probably because it came first :)
My hands itch to press the button and buy Chaos Born too! Sounds like totally my type of book! :)

In case of zombie apocalypse

Hey, guys! I feel like I should say this just in case :)
If you'd like to sponsor a fellow book addict who sometimes can't sleep at night worrying that she won't have enough books to read if internet goes down in the event of zombie apocalypse (I'm convinced it's one of the top five ways to go for human race) you can donate through Paypal to olivesandacorns at gmail dot com or buy a book through any of the links provided with my reviews which will send me a small percentage from the sale. All proceeds will go towards my enormous TBR. I will also shelter you on the remote farm in Portugal when zombie apocalypse starts provided you survive getting there. There will be books, yay?
Thank you! Love you all
