The Postman Knock #25 and Happy Easter!

Fantastic week on book front again which you could probably see from highly rated book reviews I've managed to post so far ;)
I also seem to find that I cope better with blogging when I actively socialize, answer your comments and return them on weekend instead of each day of the week, so please forgive me again for my silence, but I will get back to you today!

Other than that,
Happy Easter to all those who celebrate it!
Russian Orthodox Easter is on 5th of May this year, but I made Easter cakes last night in celebration of Western Easter as I'm going away on the 6th of May. These are the equivalent of Italian panettone,  and when they tell you it takes around 4 hours to make them? They LIE. Usually it takes all day (I spent 9 hrs) :D
Anyway...

I HAVE READ:

I had some problems with BLOOD ROSES in the end but I hope that good editing can change it before the book goes into print. Overall I do like this series. It's harsh, doesn't sugarcoat paranormal beings and reads like very intense mind-games. I had to put the book down and walk away few times, because it was getting too intense and I needed a breather. TWICE TEMPTED was absolutely delightful, and I really enjoyed reading about Vlad and Leila. Way stronger than the first book in this series. At last, AN OFFICER'S DUTY was just as awesome as book #1! I love and worship this series, and that's the end of it. Need to read Hellfire soon.

BOUGHT:

£1.19 on kindle UK!
I really wanted to read it but with the retail price of £20 couldn't afford it until now.

Obviously pre-order came in and I dropped everything to read it straight away!

Again, after finishing the first book last week I couldn't think of anything else apart from ordering the second book and reading it as soon as I get it...

FOR REVIEW:

Thank you, Harper Collins!
Don't forget there is a giveaway for this book here.

LIBRARY:

Fair Game request was inspired by Blodeuedd and Revelation by Melliane ;) You know who you are, gals!

This is it.
How was your week, me dears?

Beautiful video. I had to watch it few times, and it's impossible to stay unhappy after it :)
You can't watch it here but it's well worth your while clicking through YouTube. Trust me.

Ciao!

  1. Twice Tempted!!! Did you like it? I will have to watch for a review. I think I am a book behind on Vlad...

  2. That is a LOT of baking. I hope they're worth it.

Don't start Fair Game until you've read the other Alpha & Omega books. You've already read Frost Burned though, right? That's too bad, it would have been better to have read Fair Game first. O h well. Enjoy!

  3. Cooking always takes longer than the recipes says! Jamie's 20 minute meals always take me at least an hour - usually longer!
Fair Game is the best of the Alpha & Omega series and a real game changer for the world Briggs has created - hope you like it! :-)

Mel, ain't that true! ;) Can't wait to read it!

    D., I wish you could, but I don't think they'll survive posting :) Next year hopefully :D

Petra, I agree. Besides, I started watching The Borgias and this is right in topic :)

  7. That's some dedicated baking! My most labour intesive receipe is a baked chocolate and peanut butter cheesecake but that's still probably only 2 hours!

  8. Haha, that's why Russians do this cake only once a year! I think I only missed couple of years since I came to England both by being away at the time, Ellie!
Once I even had to come back with hubster from Prodigy concert and still prepare the cakes for the party next day. I was bone tired but I did it! :D

  12. Im glad to hear Twice Tempted is better than the first book which I just finished this week, I liked it rather than loved it but I'm determined to give the series another go.

How long did the baking take you??? Good grief that's got to be the longest cake to make ever! Hope you have a lovely Easter.

  15. Fair Game was fabulous! Still the best book Briggs has ever written. You make me want to reread it. And I have yet to read Riveted. I've been saving it for a special occasion.
    Enjoy all your books!

  16. OOh nice haul! Twice Tempted will likely be my first read right after I get through some review books! Or maybe in between them! Haven't decided yet since I've neglected a few books for over a month now!

Don't you hate it when recipes get the time wrong! I am not the best of cooks myself, and it usually takes me a little while to get something baked. Mostly because I try to clean up as I go by adding the dirty dishes to the sink and getting hot water going. It's a tedious process! ;)

Hope you have a good holiday and enjoy your reads!

  18. Hi, Kara!

Thanks for dropping by and commenting on my STS post!

WOW, what a haul! I've been meaning to get to "Riveted" for the longest time now... And Patricia Briggs! I want to read her books, too! And I also like "The Best of all Possible Worlds", "Twice Tempted", and "A Rogue by any Other Name".

I'm ESPECIALLY interested in "The Deadly Sisterhood"!! I'm going to check out your post on this book, but I already know I'll be wanting to add it to my TBR, as well!!

Thanks for sharing!! Happy Reading, and Happy Easter!! :)

  19. I love the cover of The Best of All Possible Worlds. I have a copy that I started reading a few months back and then got caught up in other things, but I do intend to go back to it eventually.

    Happy Easter!!

Lesley, it's definitely better than book #1. Hope you read it, darling!

Joy, it's delicious. You should totally read it :) *wink*

Blodeuedd, I couldn't resist after your review!

Maja, I just thought they were lonely in our library. I'm often the only one who reads them :(

Jessica, I have to do that as well, otherwise I run out of all the pots and pans :)

Kimba, you too! I've started reading it and realised I've read it already *facepalm* and I agree I loved the next one more!

Maria, you'd love The Deadly Sisterhood, it's got beautiful illustrations of paintings ;)

Happy Easter, Kat!!! I hope we both will read it soon :)
