kara-karina@Nocturnal Book Reviews
Phew. insanely busy week... I was also severely lacking in sleep, catching only 4-5 hours every night which made me a total zombie. Sorry I haven't been able to reply to your comments or visit your blogs until Saturday, which is only when I finally felt human. :)
I'VE READ:
I'll start with a total disaster, DARKNESS BEFORE DAWN. Oh my, I have no words for this book. A very poor rendition of Twilight, which I had to DNF. Good ideas but ultimately, the non-existent world-building and 400 year old vamps behaving like teens for a special snowflake of a girl proved to be too much to handle. Then, BEYOND CONTROL. Gawd, it was scorching! So, so good just like the first book. Fantastic, emotionally intense series. ICED was uber awesome. I was a bit afraid for Danny Mega O'Malley but she turned out to be just as kick ass clever young heroine with amazing thoughts as I thought she would be. THE DIVINERS I've been savouring all week. Delicious, gorgeous book! I think it's the atmosphere of the 1920s that really won me over, and excellent slang of the era. Gruesome paranormal murders helped too. At last, ONE GOOD EARL DESERVES A LOVER was a lovely relaxing read for Saturday morning. You know, true love and all that? It made me feel good.

This is it. How was your haul this week?
Sunday music video is sad and beautiful at the same time.
Please, appreciate what you have.
Dead Can Dance is one of my favorite bands of all time. They were touring in 2012 and I am really upset I missed my chance to see them...

So many amazing books! Fade to Black looks very cool, hope to get it soon!
Happy reading!
My haul.
Thanks, Ula! Knight series so far sporting really amazing covers, that's why I couldn't resist reading the first book!
aaaaaaah I want to read Iced!!!! Thanks again for the Incrytid book, I loved it!!! Happy reading!
Dehlia, Iced rocked my socks off! Hope you read it soon!
Oh wow! Lots of awesome reads there! I enjoyed Darkness Before Dawn! Still have to read Delilah's first book in the series! As well as Iced and Kate Locke's newest release! Very awesome haul! Happy Reading!
Here's my STS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
Jessica, Delilah's books are great, so as Iced. I hope you enjoy them both! :)
Yay, awesome amount of books you got there :D I like the Uk McLean cover
I was actually eyeing Darkness Before Dawn, so now I know it's definitely not a book for me! Thanks. :)
I prefer UK ones too, Blodeuedd! They are very understated. :)
Oh no, Petra! Save your hard earned cash. Unless you liked Becca Fitzpatrick and Lauren Kate, than you might like it.
I'm curious about Dreams and Shadows - and but read some Seanan McGuire books soon! :-)
Ooo, you got some good books in there. Incryptid is on my wishlist as is Clockwork Mafia.
I hope you can get some sleep this week!
So many lovlies..did I miss you McLean review?!? must look :) Enjoy all that steampunk goodness! The Sunday Post
Hey, Kara!
Oh, I know how that feels -- being like a zombie because of lack of sleep! I have two jobs (yes, TWO), so I frequently stay up late to work on my blog.
The only two books I'm familiar with here are "Iced" and "Darkness Before Dawn". I've seen rave reviews of the first one, and not much about the second one. I saw it in a Barnes & Noble store one day, and then, it just disappeared. Now I know why!
As for the other books, they're all new to me, but I'm checking them out on Amazon right now, as I'm commenting here. "Iced" looks great!! Take a look at the GORGEOUS paperback cover on Amazon (US):
http://www.amazon.com/Diviners-1/dp/1907410406/ref=sr_1_1_title_2_pap?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1363577913&sr=1-1&keywords=the+diviners
OMG...I'm in LOVE!! All that GLORIOUS blue!!
I also like the covers of "The Queen Is Dead" and "One Good Earl Deserves A Lover". What a study in contrasts! The plots are AWESOME, as well!
Also to my liking are "Dreams and Shadows" (I wonder if that's the UK cover; I don't see it on Amazon (US), and "Midnight Blue-Light Special". Both plots look very interesting, as well!
As you probably know by now, no e-books for me!
Thanks for sharing your terrific haul! Happy Reading!! :)
WAIT!!! "Wicked As She Wants" and "The Shadow of Black Wings" are in paperback!!! YAY!! Oh, bliss.....
i love sarah maclean and really enjoyed on good earl. enjoy your new books!
fishgirl182 @ nite lite book reviews
Seanan McGuire. You remind me almost weekly that I need to be reading her stuff. I WILL FIND TIME SOMEHOW.
Eeeeeee I am so glad that you enjoyed The Diviners, I'm so looking forward to that one! I love the cover of Fade to Black, I need to check it out.
Enjoy :-)
Mel, you really should! :)
Bea, thanks, I will. I'm on nights this week which means not waking up to an alarm.
Kimba, I wasn't going to do it but maybe I will now... :)
Maria, thanks for a lovely comment as usual. Yep, I saw paperback cover or Iced, and Dreams and Shadows has a different cover for US copy. I also commiserate you on the lack of sleep. Be careful with that. It can have really bad consequences for your health, sweetie. Look it up online and take care *hugs*
Fishgirl, I love her too! Although I've missed out on A Rogue By Any Other Name - can't believe I did that!
Christina, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you *wink*
Kat, it is absolutely gorgeous! Read it soon, darling, you'll enjoy it very much.
Wait. WHAT! You got Clockwork Mafia!? Oooo, I got to get over there to get that one. Dang.
Nice collection! :)
You always have some interesting looking books that I always have to check out. Great haul this week and thanks for stopping by mine :)
