Metamorphosis by Devon Ashley (The Immortal Archives #2)
won from Devon Ashley
Synopsis from Goodreads
Change is not always a good thing...
Some survived the battle – but not without a price. As one heart starts up again, another dies down. The pure vampires learn their immortality isn't as strong as they'd thought – the status of their hearts determines their vulnerability. And when the truth gets out, a betrayal by one of their own will cost more lives.
US release: 15/11/2011

I really wanted to like this book just as much as the first one, but it didn't work out for me. It was just all over the place. This series is very original and fresh, but I feel like it needs more focus. The plot was going from one thing to another in a blink of an eye. There was no basis, no groundwork for certain actions and it was like I was missing some bits of info to give me a fuller picture of events.
I think, up until Noel and Abby's journey everything was going really well. The training and conversations were really interesting. Then we started getting confusing behaviour from all the parties, villains out of the magician's hat, and lack of world-building...
The end of the novel was like scrambled eggs. Tasty but hell of a mess to look at :)
I do like the ideas of this series, but they are not properly developed yet. I hope the book #3 will change that.

Oh that's easy! When the character is an ass or really really annoying. It's the only reason to make me stop the book.

Oddly enough, I was just hoping to adopt a new book hehe :D
Okay, what REALLY drives me nuts/annoys me is when there is this tense, life or death situation, especially in a dystopian or zombie story ... and the characters react in a stupid or unbelievable way e.g. yelling, making noise, stopping to make out, etc. I want to smack them silly lol ;P
i don't like stereotypes and heroines that gush way tooo much - it's annoying. that's what really annoyed me in twilight: bella going on about edward's beauty. I get it for god's sake. he's beautiful. she didn't need to remind me over and over again.
i hate it when the heroine chooses the wrong guy in a three-way-relationship - but that's only my own opinion ;)
i really want to read some new ideas and awesome worlds.

Stupidity. When the plot goes off the rails in such a way that you want to take the author and/or the character/s off to the side and calmly but brutally smack some sense into them. Oh and violence; I abhor violence. *sniff*
Thanks for the giveaway :)

I hate it when a character accepts something mind blowing easily. I mean if your a regular jane or joe and u find out dragons, fairies, ect exist u should at least at surprised and think about it!
Anyway this does look like a good read!

It drives me crazy when the character is soooo perfect that there is no way he could exist in real life!

What annoys me is that irrespective of the genre, it seems all new books just have to have whole paragraphs of how the females are exquisitely beautifull, have fantastic figures and dress in the height of fashion.
Don't novelist have any ordinary nice looking woman heroines ?

I don't like when there are too many stereotypes: the new girl in town, the awesome and distant guy who falls for her and the parents who are never to be seen

It irritates me when the protagonist is really clue-less (kind of stupid)or oblivious to everything that the antagonist is planning on him/her. I also hate it when the same plot for every book happens again and again.
