Book Buying Ban #16 or My Last Sunday of It!

Five more days, and the ban is finished! FIVE MORE FREAKING DAYS! I feel really happy now, peeps ;))) How has your week been?

Here is what I've read:

SACRIFICIAL MAGIC and CHASING MAGIC were freaking fantastic. I love Stacia Kane, she is always on my auto-buy because the quality of her writing is unbelievable. I open her books and I know full well I'll be hooked from the first sentence. That's how amazing she is! GEEKOMANCY was adorably geeky, fun and quirky, and I enjoyed it very much. At last, REVOLUTION blew my mind away, it was so great. I finished the book and it made me feel like fish out of water, dizzy and disorientated... Read it if you can, it's out of this world!

DNF:

SHATTERED GLASS failed to keep me interested as the plot was eery familiar to DAUGHTER OF THE NIGHT by the same author, and ILLUMINATE just pissed me right off. I'm sorry, in which universe it's normal for a sixteen-year old to have a crash on her older employer and him hitting on her at the same time? I don't care if there is whole angel-demon vibe going on, but I did not think it was healthy and I did not care about the heroine enough to read more. The balance of power between them was right off.

Total:

18 books left

Next Sunday I'll be talking about all the books I bought using Black Friday offers. Hopefully by that time I'll finish with the books currently on my list and be free to start afresh ;)

Please, don't forget that today is the last day to enter
All winners for finished giveaways will be chosen on Monday.

Now for the promised pics from London...

Fun in Covent Garden...

Me and Tracey Sinclair
Tracey's Dark Dates bracelet made by this artist.

Center of London teeming with people in the evening!

Good old Big Ben!

Circus near St. Paul's Cathedral which struck me as ironic...

Mind-blowing St.Paul's.
Sorry for the quality of the pics. I did not use flash often enough and most of them came out too blurry.

By sheer chance we saw Orient-Express arriving at Victoria station and sneaked on the platform to take some pics before all the poshies in their furs and evening gowns start boarding. This one is on my bucket list, peeps :)

This is it. I'm leaving you in Florence's capable hands...
Happy Sunday and keep on rocking!

  1. Looks like you had a fab time in London! I love it when people enjoy my home town! :-)

Congratulations on reaching the end of the ban - and for reducing your reading pile so much! I definitely need to follow your example! :-)

  2. Ban? You were on a ban? Who knew! ;-P
But fun aside, you did well, after all you read so much that I need to wonder if you escape into an alternate reality at night read for ten weeks straight and return here where only ten hours have passed. That said, my TBR piles will NEVER dip down to 18 books ...

  3. Pfff, Birgit, semantics, I tell you! :))) Yes there are more books piling up but they were bought in the last 4 months and I cleared out stuff on my shelf that has been piling up for more that year and a half, and did all my reviews So I am proud! *raises fist in the air*

Mel, it was fantastic! You don't live in London right now, do you? Otherwise I would have pestered you to meet up :)

  4. Yay well done on making it 16 weeks! I couldn't even make 16 hours.

Illuminate didn't really appeal to me, but if there's a creepy older man vibe going on then it really doesn't!

  5. Yep, Kat, it really didn't appeal to me as well. Although I loved that cover and typography - beautiful!

  6. Downside Ghosts is one of my all time favourite series, I love seeing other people reading it and loving it as much as I do, bizarre I know! Love the pictures too and especially the image of folks in fur stepping round you to get on the Orient Express.

  7. AHAHA, they looked so snotty, Lesley! ;) I adore Downside Ghosts and pimp these books out as much as I can :)))

  9. Cпасибо, хотя я всё равно книги покупала если мы уезжали куда-то и в последнюю пару неделю когда они были с очень хорошими скидками. Однако полка с книгами подчищена, особенно с теми, что у меня лежали годами и это главное!:)

  10. London! Ah, I miss it so much. I was there in April, I also visited Harry Potter studios. Best 3 days ever! :D

Too bad you did not finish Illuminate. I'm quite looking forward to it.

  11. wow London looks beautiful! I didn't know this cover of revolution but I like it! happy reading!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Ula, I bet it was fantastic! I haven't been to studios but I'd like to go! :)

D., there are a few covers and most of them are really lovely. Although too many publishers keep using a key on erotic covers, the key here is actually in the plot :)

  13. Oh wow! Awesome pictures!! And yay for your ban almost being over!!

I am on a sort of book buying ban since I had to give my friend a list for Xmas that includes all the releases I have prior to Xmas! Although I did leave one book that I bought this week and another that comes out in two weeks. So it's a sort of book buying ban!

Nice haul that you got though! Hope you enjoy them all!

    Here's my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

  14. I hope your friend will get you all the books you want, Jessica! :) I've been begging my family not to buy me anything apart from books on my wishlist so I'm hopeful for a good Christmas haul! :))

  19. You never know Mel, maybe you'd like it! I just couldn't get past that age thing...

  20. You know I've already browsed your pictures and I loved them! Made me want to visit London again. I was just a kid last time I went. My dad used to take me quite often.

I really should start on some Stacia Kane. Gah. So many urban fantasy books I badly want to read and can't afford! >.<

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh no, you will have to go at least for China town and Forbidden Planet, Hannah! Maybe in spring? *hugs*

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh we aaalways went to China Town I love it! Never been to Forbidden Planet though. Didn't think about books the past few times I was there. Doubt we'll be able to afford it by Spring. Will sort something when we're able to start saving, I'd like some decent spending money and a camera. :)

  24. I still need to read Stacia Kane. But I really want to soon.

Your London trip looks like it was so much fun!

That's not good news about Illuminate. I bought a copy of that a while back. I hope I have better luck with it than you did.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Great pics! :)
And wohoo, the ban is almost over. I should do the same..or more like not accept so many review books

    ReplyDelete
  26. Kimba, you have to read her! *gasp* Go through your TBR now and pull the book out!

Kara, I hope you enjoy it. However I didn't see any good reviews on that book *shrugs* Mostly three stars on average.

You are doing not too bad for yourself, Blodeuedd! :) I've see your Sunday post - for a few weeks already you hardly get anything.

  27. You're lovely. Have I told you that before? :) Anyway, I agree with ILLUMINATE. It was also a DNF for me it bored me to tears! And Revolution was is just beyond words. I need to read some of Stacia Kane's books. I think I have the first three of the series.

    Have a lovely week, K!

  28. ooo pretty bracelet. It looks like your trip was lots of fun. Was the shopping successful?

  29. Great pics - it was lovely to meet you!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oooh! I'm so happy to hear that Stacia Kane is awesome, because she's said some great stuff in support of bloggers. Geekomancy was also on my tbr, and will stay there. I liked Revolution, but had a few issues. *ducks*

I'm not surprised Illuminate wasn't good. This is all for the best since the cover for book too InFATuate looks stupid.

  31. Orient Express! That's my dream! :) Lovely pictures. :)
I'm in London right now with my family.
