Avenger's Angel by Heather Killough-Walden EARLY REVIEW

Avenger's Angel by Heather Killough-Walden (The Lost Angels #1)

Egalley thanks to Penguin group USA

Synopsis from Goodreads
The first in Heather Killough-Walden's fantastic new paranormal series, the Lost Angels, features Uriel, the Angel of Vengeance Four thousand years ago, four archangels were cast down to Earth in human form. God's favourites, they came to find their mates, the other half of their souls made only for them, without whom they will ever be complete. Uriel, Gabriel, Azrael and Michael, however, were not alone. They were followed by another, determined to find the archesses for himself, and whose power cannot be underestimated. But after centuries of fruitless searching, the archangels -- and their enemy -- have all but given up hope. Until one day beautiful and gifted Eleanore Granger crosses paths with Uriel, the Angel of Vengeance. And as a storm rages, outside forces conspire together, initiating an age old battle of good versus evil to win the first archess.

Where do I sign up for the rest of the series? It was uber cool, people.

Four Archangels roaming the earth for 2000 years looking for their archesses. And check this out: one of them is a vampire and a famous rock singer, another is the actor who played a vampire in a insanely popular movie, the third is a policeman and the forth is a fireman.
Is this a collection of man candies or what? *grinning*

But that's not it. There is a Fallen Archangel, Samael, who wants an archess for himself. He is beautiful, tempting, and not an asshole, CEO of a big media corporation and he loves to draw contracts which need to be signed in blood. Sounds familiar? I thought so.

When Uriel, one of the Archangels finds his archess, Elly, who works in a bookshop where he does the book signing, he desperately tries to attract her attention. He waited 2000 years for such moment, and she is a perfection for him.

Elly, who's been on the run all her life, because she has unusual abilities - she heals, manipulates the weather and moves objects with her mind, can't afford to get involved with a famous actor because she will get noticed.

Situation gets complicated because Samael finds Elly as well, and tries to woo her. Interestingly enough, you don't get any evil vibes of him. He is cunning and he wants an archess and he worships Elly. But he also totally plays Uriel to get him into signing the contract which changes the guy into someone, let's say, unstable for the duration of it. All because Uriel didn't read all the clauses before signing. Typical.

I loved Elly and Samael. But because of Uriel complications he wasn't as likable as he could have been. The scene of sex was almost rape-y, and I hated to read it (I'm still fragile after Dark Predator disaster, people). However, according to the author Uriel was reading Elly's mind and behaving in a way which turned her on even more. She admitted it herself and there was nothing on this topic later on. So yeah, that part of the relationship was shaky.

The big baddies very very believable and really dangerous, which I liked and the whole world-building was very well done.

I'm totally sold on this series and looking forward to the rest of the books, hoping that the next relationship won't be as volatile as this one.

Oh my gosh, this book sounds so cool! And I just love the title and cover -- so pretty! :) I really love the whole angel genre (because every book interprets them differently) and this one seems like a super awesome one!

Awesome review! I'm definitely looking out for this! :)

In case of zombie apocalypse

Hey, guys! I feel like I should say this just in case :)
If you'd like to sponsor a fellow book addict who sometimes can't sleep at night worrying that she won't have enough books to read if internet goes down in the event of zombie apocalypse (I'm convinced it's one of the top five ways to go for human race) you can donate through Paypal to olivesandacorns at gmail dot com or buy a book through any of the links provided with my reviews which will send me a small percentage from the sale. All proceeds will go towards my enormous TBR. I will also shelter you on the remote farm in Portugal when zombie apocalypse starts provided you survive getting there. There will be books, yay?
Thank you! Love you all
