The Bitter Seed of Magic by Suzanne McLeod (Spellcrackers.com #3)
from the library
Synopsis from Goodreads
On the surface, Genny's life seems ripple-free right now. Finn, her sexy boss, has stopped pushing for a decision on their relationship. The seductive vampire Malik al-Khan has vanished back into the shadows. And the witches have declared her no longer a threat. But unless Genny can find a way to break the fertility curse afflicting London's fae, she knows this is just the lull before the magical storm. Then a faeling - a teenage girl - is fished out of the River Thames, dead and bound with magic, and Genny is called into investigate. As she digs through the clues, her search takes a sinister and dangerous turn, exposing age-old secrets that might be better left buried. Then another faeling disappears, and Genny finds herself in a race against time to save the faeling and stop the curse from claiming its next victim - herself!

Suzanne McLeod has got her own unique style of writing. It's explosive, layered, intriguing and sometimes confusing as hell, but i absolutely love it!This is a third installment of Spellcrackers.com, and if you haven't read the first two books you really don't know what you're missing...
Genny's life is not quiet and it's not calm. Finn still wants to have babies with her and coincidentally break the fertility curse which hangs over every fae in the world. Tavish, wickedly charming wylde fae and Genny's ex threatens her on behalf of Morrigan, Goddess of Death and Fertility not to have sex or any children, because they both will die. Horribly. And Malik al-Khan, her vampire master, is determined to protect her at all cost. Even from herself.
Then the teenage faelings keep turning up dead and under a Glamour spell. Genny is forced to investigate and becomes convinced that the deaths have something to do with fertility curse.
There are layers upon layers of intrigues, everyone is in the midst of the mess - vampires, witches and fae. Sometimes I was getting so confused I had to go back and reread the passages.
London, dark and gritty, with its noise and accents is wonderful as usual. Magic in Between, jealousy, revenge, old secrets, beautiful men and ugly monsters, beautiful monsters - this book is full of them...
After all the rollercoaster, looks like Genny gets a breather. But for how long? I can't wait to find out in the next book. Also, what happened to Helen?
Favorite scene: vampire attack, - it was surreal.
Favorite quote:
Sylvia turned up with breakfast. Only she wasn't alone.
Johnny Depp was with her.
"Ta da!" She spread her arms wide. "Look who I found."
Johnny Depp was with her! And he was dressed in his Captain Jack Sparrow pirate costume!
"Hello, luv." He chucked me under the chin and made a high clicking noise. "How's your ship sailing?"
