Synopsis from Goodreads

Once upon a time, Nora and Søren made a fateful deal—if he gave her everything, she would give him forever.
The time has finally come to keep their promises.
Out of money and out of options after her year-long exile, Eleanor Schreiber agrees to join forces with Kingsley Edge, the king of kink. After her first taste of power as a Dominant, Eleanor buries her old submissive self and transforms into Mistress Nora, the Red Queen. With the help of a mysterious young man with a job even more illicit than her own, Nora squares off against a cunning rival in her quest to become the most respected, the most feared Dominatrix in the Underground.
While new lovers and the sweet taste of freedom intoxicate Nora, she is tempted time and time again by Søren, her only love and the one man who refuses to bow to her. But when Søren accepts a new church assignment in a dangerous country, she must make an agonizing choice—will the queen keep her throne and let her lover go, or trade in her crown for Søren's collar?
With a shattering final confession, the last link in the chain is forged in The Original Sinners saga. It's the closing chapter in a story of salvation, sacrifice and the multitude of scars we collect in the name of ecstasy—and love.

I find I'm at loss for words with this book.

You know how we don't talk about Fight Club? Well, we don't talk about Nora, Soren and Kingsley outside of the circle of people who actually read their books. What would you say to an outsider without scaring and scarring them away? *grinning* I honestly can say I tried and got very mixed results. The thing is if you don't follow the books from the start one of them taken out of context will push all the wrong buttons. I've seen it happening.  This one is probably the hardest to read. It starts with a hard to stomach scene and it continues to push our boundaries.

The end though is totally worth it. It felt profound and meaningful, and at the same time it ended very quietly. I am sad now, sad to let some of my favorite characters go. I will never read about another Soren or Nora or Kingsley and various secondary characters affecting their rich, dramatic lives again.

This is a book which built Nora into a heroine we saw when we read The Siren. This is a book explaining Soren's initial coldness, and the book describing Nora's meeting of Wesley. Here Nora loves and hates Soren. She gives him second chances and tries to rebuild herself. She is torn between loneliness, excitement and acute loss.

Kingsley and Soren fare better here as they manage to mend their relationship damaged after Nora left. And of course, there are glimpses into present, tantalising, exciting and terrifying. Miss Reisz, can we have a gratuitious epilogue, pretty please? We really, really need one.

As usual, a fantastic, dramatic read. And as usual, it left me hungry for more. Highly recommended. So sad to see this excellent series end.

Reading order: The Siren, The Angel, The Prince, The Mistress, The Saint, The King, The Virgin and The Queen.
