Book Buying Ban week #12

kara-karina@Nocturnal Book Reviews
It's almost Halloween, peeps! I certainly carved my pumpkin into a tiny vampire yesterday...
What are you doing on All Hallows' Eve apart from working?
Here is what I managed to READ this week:
THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH was such a pleasure to read! Great plot, interesting characters, beautiful. ALEXANDER OUTLAND: SPACE PIRATE was one incorrigible wicked fun of a book. Nap, the main character comes out as a womanizer in the beginning, but he is an insanely talented hero with a soft heart. I just loved him. Total Han Solo. STOLEN NIGHT stole my breath away! I've waited for 2 freaking years until its release and it was so well worth it. At last, PLANESRUNNER was one of my favorites of 2012. What a fabulous book, sci-fi, steampunk, electropunk, colourful language, so vivid and plain gorgeous!
DNF:
A pity, but me and this book just didn't get along at all in the first 20 pages. The main character's trail of thought was too bizarre for my liking, although the book is getting good reviews. It just wasn't for me.
TOTAL:
40 books (1 for review) left!
I'm not on holiday I know but I totally caved in last night when I saw Tiffany Reisz's Twitter update that THE PRINCE is now available on Netgalley and downloaded it. I want this book so bad I'm shaking, so this was no negotiable for me :)
Happy reading to me!
At last, to all new followers through the blog hop, WELCOME!
Spooktacular Giveaway Hop is still going and ends 31st of October.
I also have a giveaway of 2 spooky horror reads from Rob Blackwell which ends on 1st of November. I read his first novel A Soul to Steal last October, and believe me, - you do not want to read him at night in the empty house. That book scared me!
______________________________________
I've spotted a couple of awesome posts last week and wanted to share. Lori from Pure Imagination recommended Vampire Books for Readers Who Are Sick of Vampire Books. Apart from one read on that list, all the books are my favorites! Heather from The Flyleaf Review explained why she loves a bad girl in YA literature. Watch out for her blog, she discusses some amazing topics.
Last thing, I promise!
I AM DYING to watch this new steampunk movie. It looks freaking awesome, don't you agree?
Happy Sunday!

I like that jack-o-lantern! I have no plans for Halloween other than working; well, assuming that Hurricane Sandy doesn't shut everything down. Ugh.
I'm not surprised you caved and got The Prince :D Enjoy!
Cute Vampkin. :D Ugh, that sucks about the DNF. At least the others were good.
40 books are NOTHING (not in my book, ha) and let it be said, one tiny little NetGalley request doesn't really count. If I should go on a ban again, with the plan to reduce my reading piles to a mere 40 books ... well, I wouldn't be buying books for the next three years, minimum. But I've been thinking about another ban anyway, maybe this time staying within a budget? Maybe only spending 30 bucks a month or something like that (this is where cheap eBooks do come in handy, harhar).
Happy SUnday!! :D
And I want to buy more books
You are doing so well with this ban - I don't think one request from netgalley will hold you back at all! I would love to reduce my TBR pile by 40 books - let alone drop it down to 40! :-)
Have a great week!
oh you read some great books, I'll wait for your reviews to know your opinion about them. Happy reading!
Holy Molly!!! It's up on Net Galley? *flails* Oh wait. I haven't read The Angel yet. Sucks to be me. :(
Yay you!!! You are so awesome. Only ONE book left? JEALOUS. :)
I have Masque...but haven't read it yet. I'm glad to hear you liked it! Alexander Outland sounds like fun, I was always Team Han Solo over Team Luke Skywalker:)
And I see you are reading The Rift Walker! Yay! Love that series! I've read the first two but not the final book in the trilogy:)
I can't believe your willpower! That is so awesome, you'll be done w/ those 40 in NO time:)
Your jack-o-lantern looks fabulous! Thanks for the Planesrunner rec. I've added it to my Amazon wishlist. The book sounds great!
I really enjoyed Masque. It's a little too dark and depressing for me, but I really enjoyed it. I don't like to feel claustrophobic while reading and that book did that. Still a great book though. I can be objective. Ha!
Great haul this week. :)
I neeed to read .. I wanna say Infinite Days? Stolen Night's prequel! I have it for review and haven't managed to squeeze it in but it sounds SO FRICKIN GOOD.
And wow, that's a tiny TBR pile. You'll finish that in no time. GOGO! :)
awwwww!! cute pumpkin!!
Wow, you've had a great week! I'm starting Stolen Night on audio, the narrator is very good, hopefully I'll like the book too.
Oh I enjoyed reading Nap as well. :D He was so fun, and the crap (pun intended) they have to go through! LOL! Oh wonderful fun.
Looks like a good week. Hope the next one is just as good.
Thanks, Bea! and stay safe with that hurricane!
Christy, Vampkin LOL That's what I'm calling it now :)
Birgit, I think it's a great plan if you only buy books on your wishlist. If you start getting all the freebies you don't know anything about, you'll get stuck I think :)
Mel, have a great one too!
Blodeuedd, me too with a burning passion LOL
Dehlia, it was a really good week for great books. Wish you the same luck :)
Joy! When are you going to read it?! I must admit I'm reading The Prince in small bits. It's much harsher than The Angel.
Heather, Rift Walker is awesome as usual with this series, I'm just really torn between two great books now. And read The Masque, it was really good.
Kara, it was a depressing book, but I found Wither even more depressing. This one at least gives you some sort of hope :) Also, Planesrunner was amazing!
Hannah, READ IT! One of the best vampire YAs out there. SO so good...
Carrie, thanks! :)
Maja, I hope you like it. I love Rebecca's style, it's so powerful!
Melissa, I hope yours will be great too! Nap was buckets of fun, loved him! Cheeky little bugger...
