Synopsis from Goodreads
The Silent Assassins of the Red Desert aren’t much for conversation, and Celaena Sardothien wouldn’t have it any other way. She’s not there to chatter, she’s there to hone her craft as the world’s most feared killer for hire. When the quiet is shattered by forces who want to destroy the Silent Assassins, Celaena must find a way to stop them, or she’ll be lucky to leave the desert alive.

I absolutely loved these two novellas! Extremely easy and entertaining read, time just flew by.
Celaena Sardothien is one of my favourite types of heroine - she's got pluck and skill to back it up. Arrogant, sarcastic assassin extraordinaire she manages to stay true to her heart or die trying.
In first novella she is sent by her master to negotiate the sale of slaves with a pirate lord. When she finds out the nature of her task all she can think of is freeing the slaves, consequences be damned. The girl is only sixteen and wears a mask so no one would recognise her and know her face. How effing cool is that?
In second book you see a wiser, more thoughtful side of Celaena. As a punishment for her escapade with the pirates she is sent to the desert to a famous Silent Assassins order to learn from them. Now, if you are fan of Kill Bill, you'd like this book even more than the first one! Sarah J. Maas managed to jam pack a tiny novella with exciting adventure, treachery and acts of extreme bravery.
I CAN NOT wait to read the full novel Throne of Glass which will come out in August 2012, but before that we'll get another two novellas about Celaena.
Recommended to anyone, especially to the fans of Kristin Cashore and Maria V. Snyder. READ the novellas NOW!

Kill Bill.
Замечательно написано, читается очень легко, советую всем поклонникам Кашор и Марии Снайдер.
Both of them sound amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteI've not heard of this series, but it does sound awesome! I think I will have to investigate... :)
ReplyDeleteSo happy you love them. Aaah.. SO GOOD. So, so good. This makes me feel excited for the next novellas and of course Throne of Glass.
ReplyDeleteI sent a request for ToG over at Netgalley. I was rejected. Hahaha! X)
Eva, I've already asked Bloomsbury on Netgalley why they refused me as well. They do not accept requests from outside US, so if you are anywhere else in the world, none of their titles will be available for you. What you can do is find out if they are going to publish the book in your country and then find a contact who will send you the ARC. I know, too much hussle! It will be probably easier to wait until August and order the damn book! :)
ReplyDeleteMel, Petra, honestly give the novellas a try. They each cost under £1 (or $1 and a half) but you'll enjoy them very much! Now I can't wait for the book, so excited! :)
