Origins : Former legendary assassin Kenshin Himura has now become a wandering samurai. Offering aid & protecting those in need as atonement for his past deeds. During this time Kenshin Himura comes across and aides Kaoru Kamiya (Emi Takei). Her father opened the Kamiya Kasshin-ryu, a kendo school located in Tokyo and Kaoru is now an instructor there. Kaoru then invites Kenshin to stay at her dojo. Their relationship develops further, but Kenshin is still haunted by his violent past...

Kyoto Inferno: Kenshin has settled into his new life with Kaoru and his other friends when he is approached with a request from the Meiji government. Makoto Shishio, a former assassin like Kenshin, was betrayed, set on fire and left for dead. He survived, and is now in Kyoto, plotting with his gathered warriors to overthrow the new government. Against Kaoru's wishes, Kenshin reluctantly agrees to go to Kyoto and help keep his country from falling back into civil war.

The Legend Ends: Shishio has set sail in his ironclad ship to bring down the Meiji government and return Japan to chaos, carrying Kaoru with him. In order to stop him in time, Kenshin trains with his old master to learn his final technique.

I am so glad I found a mention of these movies on one of the drama blogs. They are awesome, folks!!! The fight sequences are TO DIE FOR. Seriously, it's just like a glorious dark song, super minimalistic but very effective.

But I am getting ahead of myself. This trilogy is adapted from the popular manga and anime series, Samurai X. Himura Kenshin used to be an assassin working for the government during the shogunate wars in 19th century Japan. As soon as the war ended he swore never to kill again and disappeared into the countryside helping people here and there and carrying a special sword around with the blade reversed on the inside, so he can not cut people with it.

Kenshin is on the road of self-discovery and is looking for peace. He wants to experience simple things: making friends, cooking, washing dishes, etc. He befriends a young woman who teaches fencing in a quiet dojo in Tokyo. However, Kenshin's bloody past can't leave him alone. The government keeps coming back and asking for his help against various baddies. And a samurai who doesn't kill makes for helluva interesting fights...

Watch his Kyoto fight with Sojiro, which was a thing of beauty. I also really liked his ragtag group of friends who ended up fighting his battles with him which he couldn't get used to because Himura has always been a loner. 

The best thing about this trilogy? Long-awaited films #4 and #5 are coming out this month and in June respectively, and I can not wait to dive in. Expect a dynamic, steampunk-ish plot and a very likable hero who has a sensitive vulnerable side which struggles to believe in its worth. When it was released in Japan it beat The Avengers in the box office! Loved it, recommended.

Я так рада, что я нашла упоминание об этой трилогии на одном из блогов дорам, ребята! Серьезно, сцены с самурайскими мечами здесь совершенно чудесные. Я не могла глаз отвести. Эта такая была тёмная, стремительная песня. Минимализм движений с максимальной эффективностью.

Но я забегаю вперёд. Трилогия эта была адаптирована из популярных серий манга и аниме Самурай Экс. Химура Кеншин когда-то работал ассассином с беспощадной репутацией на правительство Японии во врем войн сёгуната в 19в. Как только война закончилась, он отбросил свою катану и поклялся никогда больше не убивать. Он исчез в сельскую глубинку, где он помогал то тут то там тем, кто нуждался в помощи и носил с собой специальную катану рурони - странствующего самурая с клинком, обращенным внутрь, так что убить кого-то такой катаной было нельзя.

Кеншин находится в поиске себя и ищет умиротворения. Возвращаясь в Токио он дружится с молодой женщиной, которая учит фехтованию в дожо своего покойного отца и понемногу собирает ещё несколько друзей оборванцев и беженцев. Однако, бюрократы правительства никак не оставляют его в покое, прося помощи, когда им угрожают то тот, то иной злодей. И самурай, который не в состоянии нарушить клятву не убивать придаёт схваткам завораживающий характер.

Вот, посмотрите его бой с Сожиро, например. А ещё мне нравится, как его друзья идут в бой вместе с ним, а Химура никак не может привыкнуть к тому, что он теперь не один.

А знаете, что лучшее об этой трилогии? То, что четвёртый и пятый фильм выходят в апреле и июне этого года. Ожидайте динамичный сюжет с элементами стимпанка и привлекательного героя, который не верит в собственную ценность, но готов к самопожертвованию ради светлого будущего ( он был бы хорошим коммунистом!) Очень вкусно было, рекомендую.
