Friday Mini-Reviews #75: Emma Holly, J.D. Robb & C.D. Reiss

The Billionaire Bad Boys Club (The Billionaires #1)

bought

Synopsis from Goodreads
Self-made billionaires Zane and Trey have been a club of two since they were eighteen. They've done everything together: play football, fall in love, even get smacked around by their dads. The only thing they haven't tried is seducing the same woman. Executive chef Rebecca Eilert learned early on not to trust anyone. She raised her brothers by herself-with no adult being the wiser. Her knack for cooking kept a roof over the twins' heads. Now she's damned if it won't pay their way through Harvard as well. Add in running Trey's latest restaurant, and her plate is way too full for romance. That's an attitude the bad boys intend to change. Zane and Trey have set their sights on the sexy chef. When their hearts enter the equation and they both fall for her, the committed twosome faces their hardest test of all . . .

Smoking hot read! Phew, I was fanning myself. And at the same time really sweet. I love Emma Holly and have been reading her for years. She is similar in style to Roni Loren, so if you are a fan of Roni, you'll enjoy this book. Pure guilty pleasure, except I am not feeling guilty at all. It's about two bisexual guys who have been lovers for years, falling for the same woman and not knowing it. *grinning*

Synopsis from Goodreads

Eve Dallas has a grisly double homicide to solve when two young lovers—both employees of the same prestigious accounting firm—are brutally killed on the same night. It doesn't leave Eve a lot of leftover time to put together a baby shower for her buddy Mavis, but that's supposedly what friends are for.

Now Mavis needs another favor. Tandy Willowby, one of the moms-to-be in Mavis's birthing class, didn't show up for the shower. A recent emigrant from London, Tandy has few friends in New York, and no family—and she was really looking forward to the party. And when Eve enters Tandy's apartment and finds a gift for Mavis's shower wrapped and ready on the table—and a packed bag for the hospital still on the floor next to it—tingling runs up and down her spine.

Normally, such a case would be turned over to Missing Persons. But Mavis wants no one else on the job but Eve—and Eve can't say no. She'll have to track Tandy down while simultaneously unearthing the deals and double-crosses hidden in the files of some of the city's richest and most secretive citizens, in a race against this particularly vicious killer. Luckily, her multimillionaire husband Roarke's expertise comes in handy with the number crunching. But as he mines the crucial data that will break the case wide open, Eve faces an all too real danger in the world of flesh and blood.

While it was hard to beat the previous book in the series, this was still a very good read which brought tears to my eyes. All these babies being born, and Eve was completely out of her element along with Roarke, which was hilarious. Give her a few murders, and she is back to her comfort zone! Nice, fast, engaging read, and at times, very touching.

HardBall by C.D. Reiss

Synopsis from Goodreads

Perfect ass.

Perfect arms.

Perfect swagger.

They call Dash Wallace the Diamond King.

He’s the hottest commodity in baseball and in the bedroom.

When he runs the bases, every woman’s eyes are glued to his stunning body and a smile that puts the night lights to shame.

I’m no queen. I’m a regular girl with a regular job. I just watch him on TV and from the bleachers, season after season.

Girls like me grab a guy like that one in a million times.

My number just came up, and he is as spectacular in bed as he is on the field.

But there’s not a woman in the world who can distract Dash Wallace from the game. Not for a moment. Not even me.

Until the night I do. And everything changes.

I confess C.D. Reiss had me at librarian as a main heroine. Of course I had to read it, and it was a fun, quick, steamy read. Not as emotional and complex as her many others, but it was still interesting and wonderfully written. If you enjoyed Shuttergirl, HardBall is written in the same tone.

Признаюсь, что С.Д.
