This author, guys, this book! WOW. Books about royals have always been one of my weaknesses, but a book about an imaginary Prince of Wales who is secretly gay? And from Lilah Pace who doesn't hold back any punches? I knew I HAD TO read it.

His Royal Secret was an amazing book to read. Warm, sizzling with passion and restraint, complex and touching. James, Prince of Wales is a very lonely, but self-possessed man, who is resigned to live his life in a lie because of his duties to his country and family. His life is filled with worry for his younger sister who suffers from severe social anxieties and for his best friend who pretends to be his girlfriend and is continuously ostracized by the press when she is seen with another man.

Then one rainy day in Kenya, he is caught by the rain and saved by another guest in the resort he is staying. An intense game of chess, and exchange of secrets, a night of letting go and both are hooked.

Ben Dahan is a young freelance reporter sent to a Kenyan resort to substitute for a colleague in writing an article about a rich, spoiled Prince of Wales. His beat is economic news but this close to a transfer to London he can not refuse an awkward assignment. Imagine his surprise when he catches James unaware, and realises that Prince of Wales is not only an alright chap but a closeted gay as the attraction flares between them.

This is a quintessential star-crossed lovers story. They can not be together. Then they can only meet in secret with no strings attached. Then they fall head over heels for each other...

Ben and James were glorious characters, with complex thoughts and desires. Lilah Pace painted emotional pain and bubbly happiness, sweet domestic moments which caught them both unaware and worry for those who need them really, really well, and I was caught in the romance along with them both.

Indigo and Cassandra, secondary female characters were were well written, and had their own important subplots.

Beware of the abrupt ending just when the plot reaches its boiling point. I was screaming in frustration at the end, and the only thing which pacified me was the knowledge that next book is due in August 2016. Overall, an excellent read. Very much recommended.

In case of zombie apocalypse

Hey, guys! I feel like I should say this just in case :)
If you'd like to sponsor a fellow book addict who sometimes can't sleep at night worrying that she won't have enough books to read if internet goes down in the event of zombie apocalypse (I'm convinced it's one of the top five ways to go for human race) you can donate through Paypal to olivesandacorns at gmail dot com or buy a book through any of the links provided with my reviews which will send me a small percentage from the sale. All proceeds will go towards my enormous TBR. I will also shelter you on the remote farm in Portugal when zombie apocalypse starts provided you survive getting there. There will be books, yay?
Thank you! Love you all
