Hello everyone! I can't believe May is gone, it flew by so fast! Here is what I'm looking forward to among June bookish releases...
I've pre-ordered The Bandit King because I really enjoyed book #1, and I'm on the waiting list for new Anita Blake in my library because I've stopped buying LKH books awhile ago, but that's about it.
What releases are you waiting for in June?
P.S. Don't forget that today is your last day to enter my international giveaway!
Ciao!

Tricked by Kevin Hearne (Iron Druid Chronicles #4)
Egalley thanks to Random House Publishing GroupSynopsis from Goodreads
Druid Atticus O’Sullivan hasn’t stayed alive for more than two millennia without a fair bit of Celtic cunning. So when vengeful thunder gods come Norse by Southwest looking for payback, Atticus, with a little help from the Navajo trickster god Coyote, lets them think that they’ve chopped up his body in the Arizona desert.
But the mischievous Coyote is not above a little sleight of paw, and Atticus soon finds that he’s been duped into battling bloodthirsty desert shapeshifters called skinwalkers. Just when the Druid thinks he’s got a handle on all the duplicity, betrayal comes from an unlikely source. If Atticus survives this time, he vows he won’t be fooled again. Famous last words.

Synopsis from Goodreads
Meet Sam Thornton. He collects souls.
Sam’s job is to collect the souls of the damned, and ensure they are dispatched to the appropriate destination. But when he’s sent to collect the soul of a young woman he believes to be innocent of the horrific crime that’s doomed her to Hell, he says something no Collector has ever said before.
“No.”

I freaking loved this book! It's got this "too cool for school" feel that only male authors seem to pull off.Angels and demons battle for the control and a possibility of Armageddon in the making, a lowly collector of souls gets sent off to New York to collect a soul of a mass murderer. Looks like a straightforward job for Sam, but when he looks into the girl's soul, he sees that she is innocent. To collect her soul for Hell means to jump start End of Days, and no demons or angels want that.

Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake (Anna #1)
won from vvb32 readsSynopsis from Goodreads
Just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story...
Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.
So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father’s mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.
When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn’t expect anything outside of the ordinary: move, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he’s never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.
And she, for whatever reason, spares his life.

Anna Dressed in Blood is a very very good horror story, one that will keep you turning the pages until the very end. It's tense, exhilarating and pretty dark. Why on Earth then did you give this book lower rating? you might ask.

This feature/meme is very much like On The Smugglers Radar from The Book Smugglers (which is a a wicked blog!), and I will use it when I really want to bring to your attention some of the very cool book releases I'm looking forward to. You are welcome to use it too.
Summary
When two beautiful teenage stage magicians in World War II England meet a pair of handsome men who can do real magic, sparks fly. But is it illusion, or delusion? Opening-night jitters are nothing new for Phil and Fee Albion, who come from a long line of stage illusionists. The girls love to dazzle London audiences, but in the aftermath of the Blitz they're bundled off to the countryside, where they're safe from bombs and Nazis--and bored to pieces. Phil, always the passionate one, discovers a hidden college of real magicians led by the devastatingly handsome Arden. If only Phil can persuade these unworldly magicians to help England win the war! Daredevil that she is, she'll risk anything to give her country a fighting chance, even if it means losing her heart . . . or her life.
Release date: January 8th 2013.
Why do I want to read it?
I do love historical fiction mixed with paranormal aspects, and this book has got a fantastic premise - stage magicians meet the real deal. Plus, I can not resist a redhead on a tastefully done cover. Those green letters are gorgeous!

The Genius and The Muse by Elizabeth Hunter
Review requestSynopsis from Goodreads
When Kate Mitchell decided to research the mysterious portrait in the student gallery, she had no idea how her life would change. She thought she knew what she wanted. She had a great boyfriend, a promising career, and a clear path.
How could one simple portrait change all that?
A photograph. A sculpture. A painting. One clue leads to another, and Kate learns that pieces of the past might leave unexpected marks on her own future, too.
And how, exactly, did she end up in an irritable sculptor’s studio?
One portrait may hold the answers, but learning its secrets will challenge everything Kate thought she knew about love, art, and life. A single picture can tell more than one story, and in the end, a young artist will discover that every real love story is a unique work of art.
The Genius and the Muse is a contemporary romance novel for adult readers.

Truly gorgeous. I'm reassured again and again that everything Elizabeth writes I love. This is a contemporary romance which is not my usual genre, and if Elizabeth hasn't enquired about my interest in her short novel, I would never have read this book otherwise.
Seriously. The way she brings her characters to life makes you really root for them, all of them. I had my heart in my throat through most of the book and nearly in tears at some points.

Moonshine by Alaya Johnson (Zephyr Hollis #1)
boughtSynopsis from Goodreads
Imagining vampires at the heart of the social struggles of 1920s, Moonshine blends a tempestuous romance with dramatic historical fiction, populated by a lively mythology inhabiting the gritty New York City streets.
Zephyr Hollis is an underfed, overzealous social activist who teaches night school to the underprivileged of the Lower East Side. Strapped for cash, Zephyr agrees to help a student, the mysterious Amir, who proposes she use her charity worker cover to bring down a notorious vampire mob boss.
What he doesn’t tell her is why. Soon enough she’s tutoring a child criminal with an angelic voice, dodging vampires high on a new blood-based street drug, and trying to determine the real reason behind Amir’s request — not to mention attempting to resist (often unsuccessfully) his dark, inhuman charm.

This was undeniably one of the better YAs I've read so far in 2012. The reason? The male characters were really well done, and there was such a variety of them too! Hugely entertaining, refreshing in its paranormal aspects, with a decent, strong and stubborn female lead, Becca. However, there were few things I disliked about Becca I feel I have to mention:

Egalley thanks to Prime BooksSynopsis from Goodreads

Worldsoul, a great city that forms a nexus point between Earth and the many dimensions known as the Liminality, is a place where old stories gather, where forgotten legends come to fade and die—or to flourish and rise again. Until recently, Worldsoul has been governed by the Skein, but they have gone missing and no one knows why. The city is also being attacked with lethal flower-bombs from unknown enemy. Mercy Fane and her fellow Librarians are doing their best to maintain the Library, but... things... keep breaking out of ancient texts and legends and escaping into the city. They quickly realize that allies might be enemies, and ancient rivals could hold the key to a deadly secret.
Giovanni and Beatrice will be forced to call on old alliances, ancient power, and fierce cunning to survive for the eternity they both desire. Sometimes, finding the end means going back to the beginning. Fire, Earth, Wind, and Water finally meet with devastating results in the conclusion of the Elemental Mysteries.
