Ki Sun Gyeom is a sports agent who was once a popular sprinter on the national team but was forced to quit due to legal issues. 

Oh Mi Joo writes translated subtitles for movies. She was thrilled to see her name listed among the credits when she first started. 

 Ki Sun Gyeom had just quit sprinting when he encountered Oh Mi Joo, who felt that destiny most certainly brought them together.

 Seo Dan Ah is the CEO of a sports agency and rightful successor to the Seomyung Group. Despite this, she is held back from advancing in the company due to her gender. She fiercely wishes to reclaim what is rightfully hers and lives her life accordingly. 

Lee Young Hwa, a university art major who enjoys movies and drawing soon enters her life. 

Could romance be in the cards for these two couples?

Okay, guys, disregard the synopsis. It's pretty rubbish, but I couldn't find anything decent out there.

I loved this drama! It's so quiet and understated and just super comfortable.

Ki Sun Gyeom is a quiet reserved young man, who on the surface has everything, wealth, a famous family, successful career of a professional athlete. Does his behavior also put him right on the specter leaning towards Aspergers? Maybe. However, under the facade of a polite, easygoing man, he is breaking. His powerhouse of a father, Assemblyman Ki, has been controlling his life and choices since birth, but when Sun Gyeom sees a systematic abuse his colleagues are dishing out to a junior athlete, he can't stand the injustice and speaks up to stop it despite being ordered not to make waves, which ends his career.

Oh Mi Joo is a successful movie subtitle translator, a total nerd who meets Sun Gyeom by chance, and a series of circumstances keeps putting them together in very awkward situations. Mi Joo is brash, resourceful, very pragmatic, and has a bit of a temper in face of injustice. Sun Gyeom fascinates her with the way he talks and she seems to get him more than anyone around. One of the first things she says to him is that she understands why everyone around him finds him so annoying.  It's because he is mentally strong, and people find it uncomfortable.

There is a second couple in this series as well. Seo Dan Ah is the director of the agency which manages Sun Gyeom as an athlete. She is young, ruthless, and charismatic and has a firm goal to rule her father's empire instead of her illegitimate brother. She is a fantastic character with her tough shell covering a fragile heart and very expressive eyes, full of depth and surprises.

One day she sees a painting in the cafe nearby her office and falls in love with it. The painter is a poor student Lee Young Hwa. She meets him and despite them being like oil and water, the attraction is impossible the resist.

So, this drama is about loving yourself and allowing yourself to be loved. All four characters are very different from each other and they don't fit into rich boy - poor girl or rich girl - poor boy tropes. They also all have very definite opinions about personal space and relying on others. The women are the alpha characters. Both Mi Joo and Dan Ah motivate their other halves to grow up, and it's no surprise they become reluctant friends. Sun Gyeom is adorable, you can't help but fall for his quiet charm and unflinching support without losing himself in his feelings for Mi Joo.

Young Hwa is the most carefree and playful among the four and also more prone to theatrics, but only good-naturedly. Dan Ah really doesn't know what to do with him and he just slays her with his playfulness.

This is actually another delightful case of bringing out gender tropes to the surface and turning them upside out. Ten years ago, these roles would have been reversed. I am loving every moment of it.

There is a lot of wonderful supporting characters here as well, and it's a calm and very lovely tv drama, folks. Much recommended. I binge-watched it and have no regrets.

Ребята, не обращайтесь внимание на синопсис. Он паршивенький, но хорошего я в интернете не нашла. Очень мне понравилась эта дорама! Какая-то она милая, не навязчивая и уютная.

У Ки Сан Гёма на поверхности вроде бы жизнь идеальна. Богатство, знаменитая семья, успешная карьера профессионального атлета, привлекательная внешность. Он воспитан, умен, добр и никогда не влезает в неприятности. Я бы даже сказала, что он в спектре Аспергера. Но внутри он медленно разбивается на кусочки. Его жизнь с детства была жестко распланирована политиком отцом, который использует имидж всех членов семьи для продвижения своей карьеры, и до сих пор Сан Гём против папы не шёл. Однако, у него очень сильно развито чувство справедливости и когда он видит как его младший друг по команде подвергается систематическим издевательствам, и все вокруг него делают вид, что ничего не происходит, он заступается за него и обрывает в разгоревшемся скандале свою карьеру.

О Ми Джу блестящий переводчик субтитров к фильмам. Она - настоящий нёрд, дерзкая, находчивая, очень прагматичная и интересная героиня. С Сан Гёмом она встречается несколько раз совершенно случайно и в очень неуклюжих ситуациях. Его манера и стиль разговора её завораживают, и она как-то сразу видит его, а не то, кем он быть должен. Одна из первых фраз, что она ему говорит, это то, что она понимает почему люди находят его раздражающим. Потому что он психически силен и окружающим от этого неуютно.

Вторая пара этой драмы это Сео Дан А и Ли Йонг Хва. Дан А - директор агентства, которое занималось карьерой Сан Гёма. Она молода, богата, беспощадна и блестяща в бизнесе, очень компетентна и пытается доказать, что после смерти своего отца сможет управлять его конгломератом вместо своего брата. 

Однажды она видит картину в кафе, которое посещает и влюбляется в неё. Встретив художника, бедного студента Йонг Хва, она заказывает ему картину эксклюзивно для неё, и несмотря на полную несовместимость, искры между ними так и сыпятся. 

Эта дорама о любви к себе и умении положиться на своих друзей. Характеры очень разные и в стереотипы их не разложить. Мне очень понравилось, как у них были четкие границы личного пространства и как ни один из них не потерял своей индивидуальности, несмотря на влюбленность. Сан Гём был тихим очаровашкой, перед шармом которого устоять было невозможно. Йонг Хва был более лучистым и в шутку драматичным. А обе героини оказались очень сильными альфами, мотивирующими героев вырасти психологически. И неудивительно, что под конец они стали невольными подругами.

Как я часто вижу в корейских дорамах, опять игра идёт на гендерных стереотипах: они очень вкусно  перевёрнуты вверх тормашками, что ещё лет 10 назад увидеть было практически невозможно. И это замечательно! Рекомендую, просмотрела взахлеб, о чем совершенно не жалею.
