As usual with Patricia Briggs, the writing is rock solid. The characterisation is fabulous, the plot is air tight, and I just can't get enough of Mercy Thompson's world.

This is one of the original urban fantasy series, and while a lot of them went downhill or ended recently, this one still goes strong despite a couple of hiccups.

If you've been following both this and Alpha & Omega series, you know that fae politics changed drastically in the last few books, and Fire Touched is where werewolves are finally made to choose sides no matter how much they try to avoid it. Mercy follows an impulse protecting a child claiming sanctuary from fae, and now along with Adam and her magic stick she would need to reinforce her pack's position and redraw its territory.

There are a lot of wonderful moments in this book and a few plot threads finally tied up. I was really, really happy with Adam who at last put his foot down and stopped the squabbling in the pack about Mercy's position. Hallelujah!

I enjoyed the introduction of a new ally to the pack, who deserves her own book in my opinion. And of course, the signing of the treaty and the journey to retrieve a magical artifact were vivid and super intense.

Overall, this is a fantastic read and a real comfort food for any urban fantasy fan. I especially love how masterfully Miss Briggs crosses and recrosses connections between Mercy Thompson and Alpha & Omega series in a way that allows us to follow the characters progress in a continuous timeline so we get updates on both series in each book. Loved it, totally recommended.
