Synopsis from Goodreads

For nearly two thousand years, only one Druid has walked the Earth—Atticus O’Sullivan, the Iron Druid, whose sharp wit and sharp sword have kept him alive as he’s been pursued by a pantheon of hostile deities. Now he’s got company.

Atticus’s apprentice Granuaile is at last a full Druid herself. What’s more, Atticus has defrosted an archdruid long ago frozen in time, a father figure (of sorts) who now goes by the modern equivalent of his old Irish name: Owen Kennedy.

And Owen has some catching up to do.

Atticus takes pleasure in the role reversal, as the student is now the teacher. Between busting Atticus’s chops and trying to fathom a cell phone, Owen must also learn English. For Atticus, the jury’s still out on whether the wily old coot will be an asset in the epic battle with Norse god Loki—or merely a pain in the arse.

But Atticus isn’t the only one with daddy issues. Granuaile faces a great challenge: to exorcise a sorcerer’s spirit that is possessing her father in India. Even with the help of the witch Laksha, Granuaile may be facing a crushing defeat.

As the trio of Druids deals with pestilence-spreading demons, bacon-loving yeti, fierce flying foxes, and frenzied Fae, they’re hoping that this time, three’s a charm.

I don't know if it's my newbiness in audio books or the book itself, but this wasn't my favourite book in the series. Partly because Atticus is way too serious these days, and the very much needed hilarity was provided by his Arch druid, Owen, instead. But the majority of my issues came from Granuaile's narrative.

As you must have guessed, the book is split between three narratives - Atticus and Oberon; Atticus's arch druid, Owen, whom he saves from the island of time; and at last, Granuaile.

While Atticus and Owen spend a lot of time together when Owen catches up on everything he missed (which is a considerable amount of time), Atticus also meets up with a few different gods who are indirectly fight against Loki and his allies.

Owen represents a wonderful, juicy character with astute observations and saucy wisdom, and I looked forward to his narrative of the story most of all. He also curses a lot and writes a constant internal monologue, but I adored most his interest in Sherlock and his comparisons to the TV detective when he was investigating a recent murder among fae by Atticus's request.

Granuaile was... I don't know? Slightly boring and very straight. The girl needs to liven up a bit, to get naughty! Her adventures were a struggle to get through, and while she was a diligent and pretty version of Hermione, she needed a lot more spark otherwise she would pale in comparison to Owen and even Oberon.

Overall, not bad, at times funny, but not the best instalment in the series.
