Fair Game by Patricia Briggs (Alpha & Omega #3)

library

Synopsis from Goodreads
It is said that opposites attract. And in the case of werewolves Anna Latham and Charles Cornick, they mate. The son—and enforcer—of the leader of the North American werewolves, Charles is a dominant Alpha. While Anna, an Omega, has the rare ability to calm others of her kind.

When the FBI requests the pack’s help on a local serial-killer case, Charles and Anna are sent to Boston to join the investigation. It soon becomes clear that someone is targeting the preternatural. And now Anna and Charles have put themselves right in the killer’s sights…

This is one of the best Briggs's books I've read in a very long time, peeps. It actually restored my faith in her writing and made everything shiny and new again. Driven, action-packed, it grabs your attention from the first scene and would not let go until the smashing finale. Heartily recommended.

Blade Song by J.C. Daniels (Colbana Files #1)

bought

Synopsis from Goodreads
Kit Colbana—half breed, assassin, thief, jack of all trades—has a new job: track down the missing ward of one of the local alpha shapeshifters. It should be a piece of cake.

So why is she so nervous? It probably has something to do with the insanity that happens when you deal with shifters—especially sexy ones who come bearing promises of easy jobs and easier money.

Or maybe it’s all the other missing kids that Kit discovers while working the case, or the way her gut keeps screaming she’s gotten in over her head. Or maybe it’s because if she fails—she’s dead.

If she can stay just one step ahead, she should be okay. Maybe she’ll even live long to collect her fee…

Blade Song had an amazing drive of early urban fantasy books, for example, the likes of Anita Blake, Kate Daniels or Shifters series by Rachel Vincent, and it was a pure pleasure to read it. Gripping, chilling story, a very brave, down on her luck heroine, obsessed with her sword and some evil vampires and crazy shifters to spice things up. Please, do read it!

The Restorer by Amanda Stevens (Graveyard Queen #1)

library

Synopsis from Goodreads

Never acknowledge the dead. Never stray far from hallowed ground.

Never get close to the haunted.

Never, ever tempt fate.

My name is Amelia Gray. I'm a cemetery restorer who sees ghosts. In order to protect myself from the parasitic nature of the dead, I've always held fast to these rules passed down from my father…until now.

Detective John Devlin needs my help to find a killer, but he is haunted by ghosts who shadow his every move. To warn him would be to invite them into my life. I've vowed to keep my distance, but the pull of his magnetism grows ever stronger even as the headstone symbols lead me closer to truth and to the gossamer veil that separates this world from the next.

O_O! That was so good! Atmospheric and chilling is what you would call it. One of the best ghost stories I've ever read, with loads the Southern American charm and very deeply buried old secrets. This is one of the few series where I knew straight away I'd love every single book in it. Very much recommended.
