The Postman Knock #34

Still raining this week... They are promising at least 10 more years of wet miserable summers in the news. Good that I'm not going to put up with it, right? *wink*
Now, the good news is that I've ordered a pair of glasses for myself. I am very near-sighted (in my own words, blind as a bat) so this will be a relief. Besides I quite like how I look in them. You'll see :)

How has your week been?

I've READ:

You can say I've been shirking my duties for the whole week because I read purely for myself. nothing from my review pile. Peeps, I can't tell you just how good FORGING ZERO and ZERO RECALL were. My brain exploded. Such good military sci-fi! KINGDOM OF GODS on the other hand was the weakest book in the series, and I felt slightly let down by the author. Then it went from bad to worse. MESSENGER'S ANGEL was a total fail for me. Ridiculous plotwise and characterwise. I pretty much skimmed it through. Got tired of the eye rolling as well. At last, INSATIABLE was a pretty decent and fun read. I don't know why there are so many reviews bashing it?  This is typical Meg Cabot - light and entertaining. She's got nice sense of humor when she is not writing that terrible paranormal YA series, - Abandon.

NETGALLEY:

Really looking forward to reading this psychological thriller.

BOUGHT:

Both were £0.77 on Kindle this week!

LIBRARY:

I'm going through my library wishlist right now to clear it of old books. Hence so many requests in the last few weeks.

This is it. Here is the cutest video and have an awesome day!
Ciao!

  1. Reading for fun is a necessity! We all need to do it. :)

I've had glasses since I was about eight; I can't imagine life without them. You'll be amazed at the difference they make.

  9. "They are promising at least 10 more years of wet miserable summers in the news." - LOL! We had lots of rain lately too, but it just warmed up finally...and now its humid and hot :( I think I'll be willing to trade for rain again!

Looking forward to your thoughts on The Seduction of Phaeton Black. This book popped up on my radar a few times already, thinking whether I should give it a try too. ;)

  10. Dude, I've been afraid to read Insatiable for that very reason. I was so concerned it would be another Abandon. As long as Meg Cabot keeps the humor, she's made of win and totally worth reading, even if a lot of her books would fall in the 3 range for me. Glad she kept that here!

  13. Hey, Kara!

Sorry for the late comment....you know how it is...

Anyway, I just wanted to say that, as usual, you've got a GREAT haul!! Right away, I know I want Meg Cabot's "Insatiable", which I've seen elsewhere with a different cover. I prefer this one. I also want "Messenger's Angel", "Darkborn", and "The Vampire's Voss". Gotta double-check to make sure they're available in print editions, though. As you know, NO e-books for me!

    Hope you're having a GREAT week!! :)
