The Postman Knock #20

I have a fantastic haul this week, peeps, and a much lighter mood.
We are totally broke at the moment so I'm not promising any personal giveaways next month, but there might be some from the authors interested in guest posts, who knows?
However, April should be easier on the pocket, and I'll be able to share some of my love for books ;)
Noticed I haven't bought anything?
That's because I can't! However, my wonderful local library and egalley requests helped a huge deal.
Huge huge thanks from me to them all!

I've READ:

SISTER ASSASSIN really surprised me! Despite an overwhelming amount of negative reviews I've enjoyed the fast, unusual urban fantasy YA. I also had so much fun with ETIQUETTE AND ESPIONAGE, - what a fab, quirky and charming book with a great personality! FIREBRAND took awhile for me to warm up to, but boy it was so well worth it! Fantastic read! At last, THE TAKEN which I thought an urban fantasy appeared to be a great murder mystery in Vegas with slight paranormal elements. It might not be what you'd expect from Miss Pettersson, but it will work well for the fans of noir.

Thanks again to the amazing Book Angel Emma! I am absolutely gobsmacked I won two giveaways in a row from her!

  1. I've been cutting down on purchasing books recently as well - I only allow myself pre-orders these days as that doesn't feel like buying! You're right that Egalley certainly help fill the gap...nnot that my TBR pile is shrinking at all! :-)

  5. I think I may have missed the boat on requesting The Eternity Cure this time round but I know I can get a copy from MIRA Ink at least if I am at the bottom of the queue. I love that cover. When the cover survey came round I didn't reply because I thought they would never go with it as it doesn't look like book 1 but they did!

I might read Firebrand this week as I have am travelling up north for work and will need to arm myself with my kindle.

  12. Whoa that cover for Born of Illusion is totally gorgeous! I got Parallel too - can't wait to read it! I really, really want to request The Eternity Cure, but I've got too many books right now I think hahaa. Plus, I know I'm definitely going to be buying a hardback version anyway when it comes out to match the first book on my shelf. :D Hope you love all your new reads! <3

  13. Ellie, I think you will love Firebrand. It starts a bit slowly but give it until they are in Scotland and becomes really intense :)

    Jessica, thank you! :)

Ula, I only got it because I'm auto-approved, otherwise I would have resisted, honest!

Carrie, I couldn't resist Bec McMaster, first book was soo good!

Mel, I hope you get it, sweetie.

Blodeuedd, I actually forgot about this one and then saw it accidentally on Netgalley. I loved the first book, so hopefully this one is just as great.

Brandi, thank you! I've enjoyed it very much as well!

Heather, I know what you mean! I love the cover. It's pretty beautiful just as an overhaul of The Immortal Rules as well.

  17. Glad you had a better experience with Firebrand. I liked it, but it just wasn't my thing. I thought you might like it more, though. You're much more of a paranormal fantasy reader. I mean, obviously. :-p

  18. You are so good at not buying books! Eeeeee The Eternity Cure - I read the first chapter the other day and it was all I could do to put it down!

  20. Christina, I find it really amusing sometimes. Me and Tor we are like two peas in the pod. I like practically anything I request from them, and they keep sending you staff which you don't really read :)))

Kat, nothing good about that LOL Sometimes it's eating or buying books. When you put it like that, there is no excuse to buy when I still have loads to read.

    You too, Melissa! ;)
