Synopsis from Goodreads
The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate percentage of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance between her and the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend America, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the charming college co-ed. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his charms, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’ apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

Dear fans, please don't throw rotten tomatoes at me, but I disliked this book immensely.

The name for once is apt. The relationship portrayed in the book is a disaster of major proportions. It's a trainwreck, it's something that your mom keeps telling you might happen if you don't listen to her, and frankly I will be surprised if there is a book #2 because Travis and Abby have no future together.

She is blind and madly in love, he is obsessive, has major anger-management issues and is extremely volatile. Yet they get married at nineteen. In Vegas. After a great row and big reconciliation. *double facepalm*

This song is all I could think about when I was reading this book...

So, if you are in the mood for lots of sex, plenty of screaming and drama blown out of proportions, if you like a trainwreck, you will be alright reading this book. Me? It just made me incredibly angry.

I can believe that Abby and Travis can be happy, but I would have believed it more if they spent 10 years in separation, grew up and learnt from their mistakes first before getting back together... :)

One thing I loved though is Abby's part in Vegas, although I felt that it was cut too short.

4/10

  1. Wow, this definitely doesn't sounds like a good mix. ._. Screaming and lots of drama is definitely nothing I search for in a book, when it's plenty of that in real life. Reminds me of how I felt watching The Break-Up... I had to leave while others thought it great. It was just a movie about fighting for me... Sorry it wasn't a good fit :/ Great review though.

  2. Oh no! I sorry you didn't like it because I was so excited to see a book that took place in a college setting. Well E enjoy your honesty though. Nice review.

  3. I can absolutely see what you're saying about this book, and yet, I couldn't put it down. I would lock my daughter up if she were in a relationship like this, but it's fiction and I loved every minute of it. The second book is supposed to be a retelling of this one from Travis' point of view. That might be interesting.
